After the end of the 70k and 50k increased signup bonus offers for the MileagePlus Explorer card that I wrote about earlier today, the Referral Program for the same card has also concluded. This is typical of Chase, who opposite to Amex, is not too keen on rewarding customers referring new customers.
The offer that was
- You earn 10,000 bonus miles per MileagePlus Explorer card referral made up to 50,000 bonus miles.
- Referrals must be made between March 7 and April 18.
- Your friend earns increased sign-up bonus offer of 50,000 miles after $3,000 spend within 3 months.
This is quite lucrative, especially for years after the 1st year as a card member, in lieu of a signup bonus. I wrote last week about Amex’s very generous offers for card members recently. We’ll bank a welcome 90,000 Membership Rewards points this year, just on those offers alone. This is what Chase has to say about it.
Needless to say, for the past couple of weeks I’ve been warming up to Amex, in spite of my frustrating struggles with them earlier this year. I did continue my relationship with them because frankly it’s a no-brainer. See why I love my Amex Platinum Business card. As for when will Chase resuscitate the referral program, who knows… One positive is that there seems to be a higher than usual reduced signup bonus offer still for the MileagePlus Explorer card that is worth checking out, as I commented this morning.
