When Singapore Airlines and United agreed to re-introduce online award bookings on Singapore Airlines flights through United’s MileagePlus program, it was surprising to see that opposite to what I originally wrote in my post discussing this development, Singapore had premium cabin space open on its new A350-900 aircraft on medium-haul international flights. I haven’t flown the newest wide-body aircraft out there, and don’t plan on waiting until United receives theirs. I booked two award seats in one in the SIN-BNE route, though I saw availability in a few other SQ A350 routes. Since then, however, A350 availability is non-existent, and in any medium-haul out of Singapore that does have I (business award) space, it’s in either an A330 or 772.
This is the what I booked:
This is what’s out there now:
So was this an unintentional display of A350 business award space last week on SQ’s part? Who knows… Looks like right now, at least, you’ll have to book through Krisflyer to get on the aircraft with SQ.
Lesson: if you see it, you book it, and make use of the 24-hr cancellation policy to make plans.
